Get the requesting agency’s number
The MACHS fingerprint portal instructions require a registration number supplied by the employer or licensing agency. If it is missing, contact that organization before registering.

Keep the purpose and recipient accurate
Use the number for your actual application. Do not substitute a number found for another agency: registration determines which requested check you are arranging and where the result is intended to go.

If the search is for your own review rather than an employer or licensing agency, the portal directs you to 573-526-6153, option 3, for instructions. This avoids starting an unrelated applicant workflow.
Check charges against the service you are ordering
Name-search cost and fingerprint cost are separate
The official guidance lists an additional $5 for a notarized response. Its fingerprint vendor-fee narrative and totals are internally inconsistent, so confirm the current complete charge in the applicable registration or with CJIS before payment. Do not reuse the $16 name-search price as the fingerprint price.
If an organization needs a particular type of check, obtain its written requirement before paying. A public name-search response, an applicant fingerprint result and a copy of a judgment serve different purposes. When the requested evidence is a specific court disposition, retain its court and case reference and ask the responsible clerk for that document.
